What happens when we’re really paying attention to changes taking place all around us?
On Tuesday morning our group of 7 artists were invited to pay attention to what’s happening around them during this week of what feels like an oh, so early hint of springtime here in Sarasota.
As they sat together around our creative table, Vange, Vivian, Jeanne, Lino, Larry, Bill and Anita found small budding branches that had been placed before them. Joyce and I sought to bring them all into a space where they could pause, breathe and pay attention to the subtle and startling changes—especially those within arm’s reach—taking place right in nature. Invited to hold these budding branches in the palms of their hands, they each reflected upon and claimed their own colors, shapes, lights and shadows, textures and even aromas.
Picking up their pencils and then using watercolor paints on small, delicate, rectangular pieces of paper, here’s what each of our artists discovered:
