On my own personal blog, I blog seven days a week all year long and on the weekend I completely stray from the topic of photography and focus more on things I just want to talk about. Well, since I'm helping the Friendship Centers build a stronger presence in social media, a lazy Sunday morning is the perfect time to share with you a few thoughts on this blog.
First of all, if you're reading this post, then you already get to call it your blog. We're working hard to build a resource of information for everybody, around the core expertise of the Friendship Centers staff, aging with dignity.
Second, there's a form you can fill out in the "Contact" section or you can write to me directly, firstname.lastname@example.org. We're interested in what you need help with. I can't promise you we'll have all the answers, but this is an amazing group of dedicated professionals and their motto is "People Helping People."
So, write to us! If you've got an idea for a guest post you think might help somebody in the community, then tell us about it and let's see what we can do to make it fit.
Last on my list is to comment on my own experiences with the Friendship Centers' staff. It started with my Dad (now 91) and I going to Paula Falk's Thursday morning Caregiver Support Group two years ago. Today, Paula along with many of the staff have become some of my closest friends.
That same opportunity is there for each of you, whether it's getting the support you need personally or helping the Centers as a volunteer. There's no such thing as too many volunteers and they need our help on every project. It doesn't matter what your background is, they simply need support. How you help starts with a visit to any of the Friendship Centers for the nickel tour and from there I'm sure you'll find a connection.
In the mean time, thank you for being part of this new jump into social media. We're going to do our very best to remind you that you're never alone. All of us are here to help. I might be the new kid on the team, but I know quality support when I see it and with this team of incredible people I'm surrounded by it.
Have a terrific Sunday and don't forget to let us know the kind of information you need help with most. We'll do our best to get you what you need.
