A new session of Powerful Tools is about to start next week and I can promise you it's even more of a "lifechanger" than people have described it as.
My Dad and I got to know the staff in the Caregiver Resource Center when we were taking care of my mother and the battle with Alzheimer's. This is an amazing group of dedicated people and Powerful Tools is a more intense extension of the Thursday morning support group we used to attend.
It's all about building your self-confidence and recognizing you're not alone. This is an amazing program which will help you stay focused on your own health and emotional well being. Remember, you can't help your loved ones if you're not taking care of yourself.
Powerful Tools has been called a “lifechanger” for caregivers, reducing stress, and changing negative self talk. The six week course helps caregivers learn to communicate their needs to others, and increase their self confidence in decision making. Participants also learn how to deal with difficult emotions, including anger, guilt and depression.
Powerful Tools for Caregivers will be offered Wednesdays, Oct. 29- Dec.3 , from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Oct. 29 – Dec. 3 in the Pat Buster Room of the Health Services at The Friendship Centers’ Venice campus, 2350 Scenic Drive.
