It’s not yet on the market, but the Japanese manufacturer Fujitsu has the prototype for the “Next Generation” cane. It looks a little like a golf club, and comes with a built in navigation system, providing the user with LED arrows to point them in the right direction to their destination. It monitors heart rate and temperature and if necessary can even call for assistance. A tracking device allows care providers to track the walker’s movements.
