One of the challenges all of the Friendship Centers have is getting everybody in the community to understand the depth of their resources. It's an amazing group of people supported by hundreds of volunteers, all dedicated to helping us age with the dignity we deserve.
This post is actually part of a double-header with a podcast as well, introducing you to Allie Krider Harrison, the new Executive Director for the Friendship Centers' Collier County Health Clinic. She's got some outstanding goals, so stay tuned - you're going to be hearing a lot about this new member of the team!
The Friendship Health Clinic, the Collier County division of Friendship Centers, was established in 1985 and has been providing care to the under-served community members since. Our unique model utilizes only volunteer providers to provide primary care, basic specialty care, and dental care, a model that is nationally recognized.
Our patients benefit from our medication assistance programs, coordination of care across the physical and social spectrum, and the peace of mind that we are here to care for them in their time of need. My role as Executive Director is to enhance our vision “to promote health, dignity and quality of life throughout the journey of aging”. I am here to ensure our services are available for years to come.
After joining the organization July 1, 2014, I have hit the ground running. I've spent a majority of my time in the community introducing myself and re-introducing our Clinic and mission. Though our Clinic has had a presence in the Collier County community for years, I have found many individuals are unaware of the truly comprehensive services we provide, confuse us with other non-profit organizations and are simply unaware of the numbers of under-served members of the community we act as a safety net for. In my introductions I have begun to forge relationships and explore potential strategic partnerships.
It is truly an honor to serve as the Executive Director for Friendship Health Clinic. Community healthcare is a mission I am passionate about. I am thankful for the wonderful reception I have received in the Collier County community. So many organizations and individuals are so intrigued by how Friendship Centers manage the care of the under-served population with volunteer providers and access four days a week. A number of whom immediately ask the question “How can we help?”. The number of ways is overwhelming…
Help us by sharing our mission with the community. By donating time – you don’t have to have a clinical background. We need help in every area of our Clinic. Donate dollars with a specific purpose you are passionate about – you can underwrite mammograms, establish a diabetes education program, provide support to dental patients who are unable to pay. Support our inaugural event in October by sponsoring as a patron or purchasing tickets to attend.
