RSVP of Lee County is joining the nationwide celebration of the 5th Annual Senior Corps Week: “Making a Difference for Generations”. The Board of Lee County Commissioners presented RSVP of Lee County with a proclamation designating the week of May 19-23, 2014 to be Senior Corps Week; an opportunity to thank Senior Corps volunteers for their service and recognize their positive impact and value to our communities and nation.
RSVP is a national program locally sponsored by Senior Friendship Centers with support from the United Way. Senior Corps Week celebrates the extraordinary commitment and contribution made by Senior Corps volunteers and recognizes their critical impact on addressing tough challenges in our nation.
In 2013, 700 Senior Corps members in RSVP of Lee County performed 70,489 hours of service estimated to be worth $1,589,527. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those 55-plus volunteers who are giving their time and talents to make Lee County a better place for all.
