The Friendship Centers help so many members of the community each year in Health Services, Adult Day Care, the Caregiver Resource Center and the list goes on and on. Well, here's a program you may not know about, the Senior Financial Stability and Economic Security Initiative.
If you're an older adult and struggling or if you know of somebody in the community who needs help, the Friendship Centers just might be able to help with access to other programs and services to ease the challenges.
A big thanks to Wells Fargo as well, for recognizing this outstanding program and supporting the Friendship Centers core purpose, "People Helping People"!
Through the Initiative, a Financial Security Specialist assists and coaches individuals with budgeting, saving, and financial basics, including connection to local and online resources and eligibility for benefits like food and housing assistance, job searches and transportation solutions.
If you are an older adult struggling in today's economy, you're not alone, and help may be available. Only 33% of seniors who quality for assistance are accessing support. Currently 19.9 million seniors in the U.S. are economically vulnerable and 4.8 million people 50 and older are food insecure.
The Friendship Centers may be able to help you access programs and services that can benefit you now, and help you plan now for greater financial stability in the future.
The Friendship Centers' Financial Stability Office is open from 10:30 a.m. -2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at The Friendship Center in Sarasota (1888 Brother Geenen Way). Call 556.3221 for an appointment,
