The comedy, Choral and Tap Dance groups of the Friendship Center in Sarasota will present "Remember When," a Nostalgic Evening of Comedy, Music and Dance on March 27 at 7 p.m. at The Friendship Center (1888 Brother Geenen Way, Sarasota) as a fundraiser for the Center. The writer and director of the show is Irene Silver-Stender, a veteran of theater whose first role on Broadway was "Baby Irene," when she was just three years old. Musical Director Michael Edelstein and Dance Director and Choreographer Michael McManus are also Broadway veterans with many years of experience on the stage.
The theme of the show, "Remember When" features old jokes, old songs and, of course, the popular "Walker Dance." There are 22 seniors in the cast.
Senior Theatre was born at The Friendship Center in 1998, and the group has garnered three national awards in performance competitions, including last year's performance of "The Senior Follies," which won an award of "Outstanding Performance" at the National Convention of Senior Theaters in Atlantic City, New Jersey this past June.
