of opportunity and strength."
I don't think there could be a more appropriate quote to describe all of the volunteers who have helped to make the Friendship Centers one of the strongest community resources in dealing with the challenges of aging.
Since the founding of the Friendship Centers, volunteers have contributed more than 1,132,223 hours at a value of $25,503,482. Last year 1500 men and women were involved in our volunteer programs.
Many of them are retired, but were looking for a way to give back to the community when they found the Friendship Centers. Over and over again their nonstop enthusiasm and dedication has supported Betty Friedan's quote. They truly demonstrate their dedication to "opportunity and strength" and as somebody described this amazing group last year, the volunteers are a "work of heart."
